One visit too many to the ground floor would mean the next visit would be to the first floor.

With dust, it's always about displacement, and not elimination.

23-08-2008 - Half the age of the Earth

APAD_20080823 (Half the age of the Earth)

The rocks making up the Sila Thoranam (rock arch) in the Rock Garden in Tirumala are approximately 2.5 billion years old, which is nearly (or more than, in fact) half the age of the Earth! The formation is only slightly younger, at 1.5 billion years old.

22-08-2008 - Miracle? Mystery?

APAD_20080822 (Miracle? Mystery?)

My maternal grandparents are great believers in Sri Sathya Sai Baba and his message. They were very active volunteers in the Charitable Trust too, when they were able. There are many portraits of Baba all over the walls of their house, some of which are special as can be observed here.

None of us has been able to explain this phenomenon. We first observed this quite a few years back, and while this particular frame is the best example, it can be seen in many other frames. None of these frames have been opened after purchase. They were just hung on the walls, and moved around from wall to wall every once in a while. While vibuthi is commonly what is spewed out by the photos, we have sometimes seen honey and gandham oozing out as well.

There surely is a scientific explanation for all of this. I'm the last one to believe in mysteries and miracles, but for now I have no clue as to what is causing all of this.

20-08-2008 - Floral arrangement

APAD_20080820 (Floral arrangement)

This was a grab shot made without much thought. It was my cousin's wedding and obviously, a very hectic day. At the time of taking this picture I really just wanted to hit the bed, but there was a house-warming ceremony that we had to attend in another 4 hours' time (yes - at just before 3 am on the 21st) and thinking about the daily photo wasn't at the top of my list of things to do.

APAD_20080810 (Garaj baras saawan gir aayo)

Hopefully.

It hasn't been anything more than gusts of howling, chilling (at night) wind for the past few days now, and in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh people are dying from flooding.

09-08-2008 - All we need

APAD_20080809 (All we need)

UPS - check, extension strip - check, router - check. Off we go.

Unfortunately, I ran out of batteries (both of the batteries got discharged - lack of foresight/planning on my part) and it was too close to midnight. So I couldn't do better than this not-so-meaningful hand-held, overexposed (brought down in post), shaky picture.

06-06-2008 - Spot the bug

APAD_20080806 (Spot the bug)

I occasionally have problems with the keypad lock/unlock functionality not working. That is, either an unlocked keypad won't lock or a locked keypad won't unlock when I hit the lock toggling key sequence. That cropped up for the first time quite a while ago, but this is the first time I'm seeing *this*.

It's getting old, the poor thing.

05-08-2008 - When will I have the life-sized example?

APAD_20080805 (When will I have the life-sized example?)

There's something wrong with that driver's side door and ORVM. The door isn't opened as wide as the other one, but the ORVMs look different too.

Attention to detail is everything.
