26-04-2008 - Night of the royal battle

APAD_20080426 (Night of the royal battle)

Royal Challengers vs. Royals (IPL) in Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy stadium.

Some technical details. This was a grab shot with the wife's point-and-shoot. I didn't mean to shoot with flash but that was what it was set to shoot at in one of those semi-automatic exposure modes. I didn't have much time to delve into the menus and switch the flash off as I was waiting for the lights to go green (not much time left). So off it went without my knowledge.

Now, I don't know if it offers a rear curtain flash sync mode, but even if it did and I'd known about it, I wouldn't have changed to that mode as I didn't know the flash was going to fire, and so we're left with the unnatural-looking flash-induced light streaks (the Indicab's head and tail-lamps and the auto's tail lamps).

25-04-2008 - Sweet poison

Needless to say, it all went down the drain with no elements of human anatomy in its path.

It's amazing how we sometimes need texts enlightening us to the obvious.

22-04-2008 - Refreshed

APAD_20080422 (Refreshed)

I was taking some pictures in front of the auditorium when my wife spotted this crow quenching its thirst in the auditorium grounds. It sat on the tap for quite a while, crowing away, while I was taking pictures and hoping it would take a few more sips - almost willing that to happen, actually. But it never happened. After crowing for a while, it flew away.

It always feels great - and special - to be back on campus.

15-04-2008 - Singing Jungle Myna

APAD_20080415 (Singing Jungle Myna)

This is a picture of a Jungle Myna (Acridotheres fuscus) I spotted on the branch of a tree growing in my apartment complex in RT Nagar, Bengaluru (India). The bird may have been around 10-12 feet away my balcony and this is the closest I could get.

I see a fair number of these birds (distinguishable by the shape of the hair at the forehead - if one comes close enough, or by the white bands on the wings - easily visible when the bird is in flight).

08-04-2008 - Sintex-scape

APAD_20080408.1 (Sintex-scape)

I think this picture needs some rotation if nothing else. Anyway, it was an interesting sight just outside of Yesvantpur railway station. Loads and loads of "Sintexed" terraces.

In hindsight, I should really have tried taking 3 or 4 pictures and stitched a panorama out of them, because they were so many that I couldn't capture all of them even after zooming the Lumix's lens in to the widest it can be zoomed in to. However, hindsight is always 20/20!

APAD_20080407 (Self-discovery)

That's my youngest cousin - a little over 26 years younger than I am and around 10 months old at the time this picture was taken! Never a dull moment with him around. Here, we see him busily examining his own feet.

APAD_20080404 (There's one in every crowd)

Shall we do away with those lessons in school that taught us zebra crossings are meant for pedestrians and pedestrians alone?
